After far too much waiting around Monique and I finally got underway. Yesterday, the 17th of February, we left Durban airport with tearful goodbyes and flew to Jo’burg to start our first adventure; teaching English in Korea. This is also the start of our new travel blog; MC Adventure Blog!

What we hope to bring in our Adventure Blog
There are so many blogs out there. Travel, food, sport, movies; basically everything you could hope to find out about. At MC Adventure Blog we hope to find a little more to offer.
Firstly there is sustainable travel. You want to travel all your life but how the heck do you fund it? We aren’t all born as trust-fund babies. We want to explore as many possible ways to keep you traveling for as long as you want.
Secondly there is sustainable travel. This also includes looking after the world we live in. There are many opportunities to give back for the wonderful privilege of travel. We plan to find out what’s what in ecotourism and keep you informed.
Lastly there is sustaining yourself. If you don’t look after your mental health travel can become quite the burden. Monique is a qualified therapist and will draw on her personal experiences to offer self-care and mental health tips.
At the end of the day we hope to inspire you with our adventures. Maybe you can start your own adventure blog. Or else just use our tips to have the best travel experiences you can get!
Some tips already! What to do on a layover in Hong Kong
So while we are being industrious bloggers we are already learning new things!
After a 12 hour flight on Cathay Pacific (fantastic food but needs a larger selection of movies and series) we landed in Hong Kong airport. A useful tip if you find yourself in our position (a 20 hour stopover), Hong Kong happily gives you Visas of several weeks so you can spend some time seeing the sites.
Sleep deprived and weighed down by far too much hand luggage we took to the streets of Hong Kong. On a whim we bought tickets on the Big Bus Tour which turned out to be a godsend; it includes tickets to the Sky View platform and tram (definitely a must see!), ferry tickets, museum tickets and the ease of just hopping on and off Big Bus buses throughout the day! It may come across as expensive 450 HK$ (pick up a Hong Kong map at the airport for a 30 HK$ discount coupon), but if you’re on a tight schedule the buses are a great way to see Hong Kong and get lots of facts while you’re at it.
Time runs short but stayed tuned for more MC Adventure Blog
Sitting in the airport again, eating pizza and sipping coffee waiting for our flight to Busan, Korea! To follow all our adventures make sure to subscribe to our monthly newsletter and follow all of our adventures.
Never seen so many skyscrapers packed together…and then, all of a sudden, a “jungle” that made me think of karkloof…thanks for sharing xx
Hong Kong has the most skyscrapers in the world, double the amount in New York! And then gorgeous green all over, it is a fascinating place:)
